Third day
I am back for the third day of the Taiwan trip
and it is Christmas Day.

`

We are going to spend our Christmas Day travelling
out of the city area of Taipei towards Jiu Fen, Shi Fen and Hou Tong

`
As usual, we woke up early for the
long day of travelling here and there.
We took a train from Beimen Station to City Hall Station
then transfer to the Rui Fang Station
The platform was crowded and complicated with different
train going to different area.
We had to be super alert and sure of our train number
before boarding the train.

From Taipei Main Station to Rui Fang Station
took around 45 minutes to 1 hour.
When we reach Rui Fang, we need to purchase another
train ticket towards Jiu Fen, Shi Fen and Hou Tong

So, from Jiu Fen Station, we need to take another form of
transport into the 九分老街. To avoid confusion and squeezing
of transportation, we chose to take the cab.
But it was a long, steep and curvy route all the way up the mountain trek.

The cab uncle did not drop us directly outside the street as
there would be a massive congestion since it is the holiday period.
We were stop outside a temple and has to climb up a
flight of stairs to reach the Main Street.
We were being welcomed by the magnificent view upon
climbing the flight of stairs and everyone was just
there taking photographs of it.

A panorama shot of the view from the entrance of the street

Did not managed to take a lot there was a huge human congestion.
Be  prepared to encounter the massive congestion when
you visit the place during holiday period. It was so crowded everywhere
and we had no choice but to just find shop
to settle our lunch.

Look at the crowd at the starting of the street

We had 炒冬粉, 贡丸汤 and 青瓜冷盘.
It was really nice and yummy.
The shop is situated few shops after the entrance of street.

After lunch,
we need to squeeze through crowd again into
the inner street and the crowd was horrendous

We had 赖阿婆芋圆 along the way in the street,
went to a tea house to chill and taking photograph at the
other end of the peak.

`

Soon, before evening time,
we took the train from JiuFen to Hou Tong

Hou Tong is a residential area with a few
cafes and store around. The main purpose of going
to Hou Tong is to see the roaming cats around
and it has the name of Cats Village

The cats living in the village are all
very friendly and nice. While they roam around
the village, they also allow us to play with them
and even snapping photograph.

`
As the sky is getting darker,
we left Hou Tong for Shi Fen
Shi Fen is really crowded with people
and every area is congested with human traffic.
Since, it is Christmas Day right?
We need to 放天灯 to make some wishes
for the next brand new year.

We purchased our 天灯 from the nearest store
and was brought to the side of the train tracks
to write down our wishes on the lantern.
It was damn hilarious as we phrase our sentences
and the lady behind us were laughing
at our wishes too. We couldn't stop laughing
throughout the process.

After writing the wishes on the lantern,
we proceed into the queue to let our lantern up high
into the sky. The lantern flew fast and high up into the
sky joining the other lanterns.

We wanted to the waterfall after the lantern
so we cross the shaky bridge but halfway
through the bridge, we heard someone saying it is closed.
Upon hearing that, we can only turn back
and head back to station.

While waiting for the train, we walked around the station
and played on the train tracks like some kids area.
Soon, boredom hits us and we headed back to the platform,
to wait of the train back to Taipei Station

The train back to Taipei Station is as usual packed
as the one we came in and we got to
stand throughout the journey.

`
We returned back to Xi Men Station
and by the time we reached Xi Men Ding,
most of the shop are getting ready to close.

To heal our famished stomach,
we headed back to the apartment to put
down our stuffs and headed out to
have Ma La Steamboat. It is like 10 minutes from
our apartment.

It is damn awesome meal with free flow
of drinks, beer and movenpick ice-cream.

We really had a good meal and
never regret having only 1 meal
on our Christmas Day.

`

Alright,
This marks the end of my Day 3 in Taipei.
I will come back for more.

`

拜拜!
